The Traditional folk art of Odisha Jhoti, chita, muruja is bonded with our social and religious activities. In the month of Margasira, specially married women of odisha worship the goddess Lakshmi. It is the cultivation and harvest season where paddy grain is thrashed and stored.

During this special festival, the muddy walls and floors are washed properly with cowdung water and decorated with white rice paste or pithau called Alpana.
