Nuapatna is famous for handloom products in odisha. Most of the people living here are directly or indirectly involved in this business and art. Nuapatna was also famous because of Jagannath Spinning Mill which was closed because it was neglected by Most of the Authority and Personnel from Govt of Odisha.

The Spinning mill was introduced at Nuapatna around 1980, govt choose this location because weavers of Nuapatna are having more skill and quality designs from other part of the State. This Spinning Mill produced fin quality of cotton which fulfilled demand of weaver around nuapatna, maniabandha, abhimanapur locally and other part of country. Nuapatna still is one of the major saree producing place in India, other than sonepur, kotpad, siminoi, berhampur etc.
